I’ll still be rooting from section 225 and I’ll still be cursing at my television screen and I’m still be crazy stupid in love with Ryan Zimmerman, but I don’t have the time for a blog.  Here’s to 2011!

I know, I know. I haven’t put a single thought down in nearly a month. Oh bother….yes, bother, like Winnie the Pooh would say. It’s quite depressing actually, I’ve abandoned my blog friends, the Natosphere, my responsibilities as a blogger. Ohhhh Booother.

Well, I am trying to resurface, trying to find ideas, time and strength to put down some thoughts. Work is D-RAAINING these days, and will be well through January. Having not really paid attention during the season to the two teams in the World Series right now, other than knowing Lincecum = awesome and poor Pudge must be FURIOUS he’s not with the Rangers anymore, I don’t really have any insights there.

So, that leaves me with….Bryce Harper. Um, NEXT!

Well, instead of guessing all day, I’m going to get back to work – and do some research tonight. So hopefully friends, I’ll be in bidness tonight – at the very least this weekend. Not that all 12 of you really care, but, I do apologize.

But, Life is Better With Baseball has taken a mental health sabbatical. Besides being better with baseball, life is hectic, crazy and quite full of things to do.  Hopefully I’ll be fully functional this weekend.

So, I’m here to say, sadly, I cannot WAIT for 2011!!!! Not that I’m going to stop rooting for the team during the next few games, but, I have visions of playoffs dancing in my head for next season! Here’s why:

• Danny “I’m going to save your team from ridicule” Espinosa! What a kid! It’s quite obvious he’s Ray Knight’s man-crush, and he’s really come to be one of mine too. (I’ll never stop loving you though, Ryan, stop worrying.) Honestly, it must take him half of a half of a second to zing that ball to first to make an out. He’s razor sharp almost every single time he plays and his bats are HOTTY HOT HOT!
• The 6-4-3, or 4-6-3 and of course, the 5-4-3 or 5-3 combos light up the field. Zing, zang, boom, bah, OUT! It’s like a hockey game out there, it all moves so fast I can’t see where the ball landed, where it went and how it all happened! Before I know, the runner is out and we’re walking off the field. Sheer awesomeness.
• Desi. Desi, Desi, Desi. I’m really sorry I ever doubted you. Desmond’s contributions combined with Espinosa’s next year will make up the  missing key ingredients for our infield.
• Who knew Bernadina had wings?! Watching him launch himself into mid-air to make breath-taking plays has become one of my favorite things about the game. Easily one of my favorite players on the team, I’m really hoping we see a Willingham, Morse, Bernie outfield next year.
• Michael Morse for Mayor!!!!! Simply put, I don’t know what we ever did without him.
• And well, Justin Maxwell might be the cutest thing to ever play for the Nats. Our grand slam hero, I hope he’s around for a while.  Anyone see Maxwell slip coming in to the dugout two nights ago? Fast forward to about :45 seconds, I’m still laughing at this, hahahahaha.
• And of course, who I think are the heart and soul of our team right now, Ryan, Dunn and Pudge.

I like to call the Ryan, Desi, Epinosa, Bernie, Morse gang the Young Guns, meeting up at the OK Corral to demolish other teams.

Our next, and final game of the season is this Saturday. I’ve really enjoyed being a fan this year. I know it’s been tough, but the best thing about baseball is that every April, you immediately forget about past troubles and past seasons and head for one of the greatest days of the year – Opening Day. No other sport celebrates Opening Day the way baseball does.  I’ll easily trade in my frustrations and anger over a few bad seasons for a fresh chance at another season, regardless of how long it takes my team. And why is DC so quick to judge the Nationals, who by the way, are still considered a new team, when our precious Redskins have been stinking up the field with drama and sucky football FOR YEARS.

I think I just figured out my next blog post…….

Ok friends, TTFN!!!

After closing my eyes from a melatonin-induced coma in the top of the 9th, I was rudely awesomely awoken by my boyfriend with the chants of “WE WON!”  I immediately thought to myself, I can’t wait to read about this game in the morning.  

Of course the obvious mentions are all over the place this morning as I said above.  I was too sleepy to hear that Sean Burnett came in late in the game, so reading the highlights, one thing really caught my eye.   

Sean Burnett has seven (7) straight scoreless outings!!! Where did this come from!? Well, I’ll admit, I was skeptical of the kid earlier this season, as a lot of Nats fans were I’m sure – but I’d say he finally deserves some credit. So here’s to our quiet but up and coming ace in the hole, Sean Burnett!!!!  (chants of, Let’s hear it for the booooy” immediately come to mind….)

Newsworthy UPDATE:  After posting, I found this on ESPN, The Washington Nationals‘ Adam Dunn hit a 479-foot home run Tuesday at Atlanta — the third longest HR this season behind Josh Hamilton (485 feet on June 27) and Colby Rasmus (483 feet, also on June 27). Dunn owns the third- and fifth-longest home runs of the season. Interestingly enough, the five longest home runs this season have all been hit by left-handed batters.

In keeping with the horror that still runs through my brain after almost getting eaten by that spider (ok, whatever, it was big and gross….), thought it’d be appropriate to use this picture with the blog post I had in mind:

Nyjer: Well, clearly Desi and Kennedy don’t know where their boundaries are – we were almost the three stooges out there running for the same pop-up, come on Riggs, tell ‘em.

Ryan: I’d like to say I didn’t make any mistakes and I’m perfect

Riggs: Yes, Ryan, you are

Dunn: What about me? You gonna keep me with Ryan next season? Huh? Pretty please????

Riggs: Ya know what Dunn? You may be a lot of things but one thing you are NOT is flexible. Either learn how to stop balls from going by you or kiss yours and Ryan’s  BFF relationship goodbye!

Espinosa: what the heck did I sign up for………

Riggs: Hey Rookie, cut back on fielding errors, keep up the hitting, you’ll be fine kid. Just fine.

McCatty: I’m sickened and sad that we have the problems we do. I’ve personally already called Strasburg’s physical therapist and told them we’d pay them $18 million to give him a bionic arm so we get him back in no time.

Pudge: Dude…that kid that got hit with the ball was sooooo mad at you Storen! But I told him I’d kick his butt if he made a move because I work out 13 times a day and had I been a part of the original fight a few weeks ago…..ohhhhh those feeeesh better have watched out!

Riggs: All of you! you think it’s funny we’re going to be below .500 for the 5th year in a row?! I’m moving to the Dominican, no one try to find me, don’t call me, nothing. You’re all playing like 12 year olds – actually, I think my 12 year old nephew plays better than all of you! Except you Ryan, you stay just the way you are.

At least that’s how I imagine it!

Easily one of the funniest movie conversations of all time, I’d like to think a little bit of prayer AND possibly a voodoo spirit named Jobu visited the Nats these last few games and put upon them a blessing that resulted in this, and this, and THIS!!!!!

The Nats must have known yesterday was my birthday, beating the Mets 13-3 was one of the best birthday gifts I’ve ever received!

One thought: If I were to ever need to hire a body guard, I’d check with the Nats first to see if they’d let me borrow Listach for a night.

Watch closely for yourself.  As the only National on the field, Pat leapt into action, pinning down the pitcher in one swift move.

Whether or not Nyjer should have done that is for another post when I have more time. I’ve always like Nyjer, so I’m not sure how to handle the immediate reaction of “HOLY SMOKE!” – I’ll let it simmer for now.
